I can’t get enough of watching these kids. They’re great. Check the interview with them as well. Very sharp. That’s what I’m talkin’ bout right there. Future leaders of America!

The creator of this series, Greg Reese, is an Independent voter. He is supporting Barack Obama in this election but decided to make raps about the other 3 participants in the race to compliment the one he made about Obama initially. His focus in the music is not to support one person over the other but simply to provide informative data about the candidates in a positive entertaining format. The initial Barack Obama rap that started the series is pretty partisan. Reese has pledged to make another one about Senator Obama that’s more in line with the neutral informational format he adopted later in the series.

Check out the tracks he did for Joe Biden and John McCain as well. They’re all fun and well made. To top it off the dude has decent flow so that’s icing on the cake.

(The following started as a comment to this story. It got so long that I decided to make it a blog post.)

Where did the money come from? I can’t speak for college. Maybe he (Obama) had a scholarship. He seems like a really smart guy to me. As far as the campaign funding goes though a good chunk of it came from thousands of Americans like me giving what they could to support the campaign. Times are very tight but I gave what I could at the time which was only $5. I would (and will) give more if I can between now and the election if for no other reason than to try to help combat the hatred and ignorance that’s being hurled at someone who by McCain’s own words is a good man.

The key sentence in that email for me is “All of the above information I got on line.” That’s presented as if the Internet is the pinnacle of factual accuracy. Anyone with any agenda can post anything they want and present it at fact. Once it’s out there it can be processed, replicated and transmitted many thousands of times in the blink of an eye without any research or fact checking required. Even factual information can be twisted and construed any number of ways to suit any purpose. Yes even the all knowing Wikipedia contains inaccuracies and out and out lies.

What’s sad is many, many, many people out there are so gullible. It’s as if fact that something like that was emailed to you automatically makes it factually and accurate. If that were the case I would believe that Sarah Pailin walks around her house in a bikini holding a shotgun and posed for nude pictures when she was younger. Sheesh!
I think I’ll stop now. Moving on…

If you wonder why some folks are fearful of the undertones that are permeating this election cycle check out this follow up video with the lady from the above video.

I’ve spent the better part of the last 2 nights fiddling and tweaking this thing. I had a theme that I really loved all picked out and set up last night. It was everything I was looking for. Unfortunately it made the site and the administrative underpinnings extremely unstable. I had resigned myself to working around the errors it generated but after signing on tonight to make a very minor change and having a whole new set of errors thrown at me I decided to throw in the towel on that one. That meant I needed another theme. So I’ve spent the last 3 hours scouring the web for a nice, clean, professional looking theme. This is what I came up with after much digging. It’s got it’s own quirks that I’ve had to work around but the instability brought on by the other theme is gone as are the errors. You’ll also notice that all the old Blogger posts from the original Don’t Cry Over Spilt Water site here now as well. I’ve been wanting to do that for a long time but held off until the Word Press import feature was upgraded to play nice with the new Blogger platform.

I’m happy with what I’ve done with this refresh. I can’t say that this will make me post any more frequently (though I hope that is the case) but I will say I’ve enjoyed this 12 or so hours I’ve logged getting Okiboy.net back up to snuff. Good night.
