A Nice Trip To Narnia

12 Dec

“Narnia” Gets Lion’s Share of B.O. : Some church friends and I took an enjoyable trip back to Narnia on Friday. Looking at the box office numbers it appears that a lot of other folks did as well. I must say the movie was very well done. It’s been a long time since I read the books but from what I remembered, the movie was very true to the source. C.S. Lewis would be proud I believe. Now that I’ve seen the movie I definitely have to read the books again. Unlike his good friend Tolkien, whose prose I can’t stand reading (loved the movies though), Lewis is much more palatable. Plus the books are short so I’ll be able to zip through them quickly. There are 6 more books in the series and all indications point to Disney producing 6 more movies based on the novels. The only challenge I forsee is the same one facing the Harry Potter movie series. The actors may literally outgrow their roles especially the actor who plays Peter. As long as they don’t replace the girl who plays Lucy I’ll be happy. She’s very earnest and sincere. Casting did a bang-up job putting her in that role. This one will definitely end up in the DVD collection. There aren’t many movies worthy of bestowing that honor upon. Speaking of honor worthy DVDs, Roll Bounce comes out tomorrow on DVD. I’m so all over that it’s not even funny. Actually I’ll have to wait until pay day on Thursday because I am currently broke but when there’s money in my coffers, Roll Bounce will be mine.

Government Oppression At Work

10 Dec

China Town Sealed After Protesters Slain – This is a truly sad occurance. What’s even more sad is the fact that this type of thing is happening everyday all over the world not just in China. How can a government have such disregard for the lives of it’s people? I can’t imagine what it would be like to live in fear for my life with nowhere to turn for help. Things like this should generate outrage but instead it will be swept under the rug and soon forgotten. That I’m afraid is the probably the saddest fact of all.
